Walt Disney World is absolutely beautiful at night.  Just because the sun goes down, doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a ton of fun stuff to do!  Here are our top 10 must do nighttime activities at Walt Disney World:

10. Resort Campfires – Various Disney Resorts

If you are staying at a Disney resort then you have to check out the resort campfire when it is offered. You can purchase the stuff to make s’mores and enjoy a fun, relaxing evening right from your resort.  If you head over to Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (you don’t have to be a guest there), then you can check out the campfire there and sing songs with Chip and Dale.

9. Astro Orbiter – Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom

For one of the best views in all of the Magic Kingdom, you have to be sure to ride the Astro Orbiter at night.  The attraction takes you high above Tomorrowland and you can see all of the Magic Kingdom lit up at night.  It is definitely a beautiful sight.

8. Epcot Forever – Epcot

The nighttime fireworks show at Epcot is extremely popular and an experience that you definitely have to make sure to fit into your trip.  The show is performed nightly at the park. The show incorporates fireworks, fire, projections and other effects and you will love it!

7. Disney Springs

Disney Springs has an amazing nightlife vibe.  You have to be sure to spend at least one evening exploring Disney Springs during your vacation.  You will find amazing dining locations, bars with delicious drinks and small bites as well as various entertainment and performers all around the area.  It has a really cool vibe and you’ll definitely want to check it out.

6. The Twilight Zone Hollywood Tower Hotel – Hollywood Studios

We love this attraction any time of the day, but we especially love it at night.  The attraction already has a creepy, spooky vibe to it and riding at night intensifies that.  You also get a great view of the entire park all light up a night before you drop!

5. Rivers of Light – Animal Kingdom

Rivers of Light is a brilliant nighttime show typically performed nightly at Animal Kingdom.  The show is a seated show next to the water.  The show is a mixture of floats, lights and water effects to create an amazing experience and a great way to end your day at the park.

4. Fantasmic! – Hollywood Studios

This is definitely one of our absolute favorite nighttime activities at Walt Disney World.  The show is seated and includes a variety of different effects as it tells the story of how the villains try to take over Mickey’s dreams and turn them into nightmares.  You will see many of your favorite characters and of course, Mickey Mouse.  You definitely can’t miss this one!

3. Happily Ever After – Magic Kingdom

Happily Ever After is the fireworks show that is performed most nights at the Magic Kingdom.  The show also incorporates amazing projections on Cinderella Castle as part of the entire experience.  There are many different character and classic Disney movies featured throughout the show.  It features the latest technology and is definitely a must-do attraction.

2. Tree of Life Nighttime Awakenings – Animal Kingdom

Most nights the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom comes alive with a variety of lights and colors on the tree.  It is a short little show that takes place multiple times throughout the evening for the guests that are standing around the area.  It is absolutely stunning and an entirely different look than what you see during the day.

1. The “Kiss Goodnight” – Magic Kingdom

When the Magic Kingdom closes, guests are encouraged toward the exit.  Many of the shops toward the front of the park stay open after the park has closed so that guests can finish up their last minute shopping.  If you hang around long enough after park closing, then you might be able to catch the “Kiss Goodnight”.  This is an extra music and light show performed on Cinderella Castle that many guests miss because they hurry toward the exit.  Hang back and check it out!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
