6 Things You Don’t Want To Miss At Walt Disney World’s BoardWalk

A lot of people confuse Disney’s BoardWalk for Disney Springs. They are two completely different places. Disney’s BoardWalk is a good way to still have the Disney magic in a more relaxed setting. Since it is not part of one of the theme parks, it is free to get in. Whether you are local or from out of town, here are six reasons you will want to check out Disney’s BoardWalk.

6) Rent a Surrey Bike

You and your family can enjoy a leisurely ride around Crescent Lake. Surrey Bikes are available for rental in two different sizes. There are two hills on the path so you have been warned, but don’t let that stop you. The rentals are for half an hour and there are age restrictions on who can drive. Be careful when riding and look out for people walking, especially in the evenings.

5) Go For a Walk or a Run

Disney’s BoardWalk is a great place to get some exercise. The loop around Crescent Lake is 8/10 of a mile. Add even more to your walk by taking the walking trail to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Parts of the trail are shaded and the entire length is paved.

4) Fireworks

There are some great viewing area for Epcot’s fireworks at Disney’s BoardWalk. The bridge that is near the World Gateway entrance probably provides the best view. You can also see well on the second bridge near Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotels. There are also great spots to watch in front of Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel. Most evenings the fireworks takes place at 9:00. Times may be different around the holidays.

3) Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall

Even though Walt Disney World is a family destination, they haven’t forgotten about the adults. There are two clubs that are for the 21 and up crowd. Jellyrolls features dueling pianos, there is a cover charge. At Atlantic Dance Hall you can dance the night away to music from the 80’s until now. There is no cover charge.

2) Food, Drinks, and Sweets

There is a great variety of dining options at Disney’s BoardWalk! Have a sweet tooth? Beat your cravings with a treat from Ample Hill Creamery or the BoardWalk Bakery. For a quick meal there is Pizza Window or To-Go Cart. Table Service Restaurants include the ESPN Club which is great for the sports fans; Big River Grille & Brewing Works features a working brewery; Trattoria al Forno features authentic Italian cuisine and new character dining experience; and Flying Fish Cafe serving mostly seafood in a fun atmosphere. Finally, top off your meal with a satisfying drink from AbracadaBar or BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas.

1) Street Performers

This is one of the best freebies at all of Walt Disney World. Every night from 7:00 to 10:00 street performers come out to entertain the guests on the BoardWalk. There are six different performers total on contract, plus some talented substitutes. Three perform each night, so every night is different. From jugglers to magicians, you are guaranteed to get a great show. Audience participation is part of the fun. If the weather is bad the performances will be held inside Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel.
