Walt Disney World divides its resorts into three categories based on price and amenities: Value, Moderate and Deluxe. While many people dream of a luxurious stay at a Deluxe resort like the Grand Floridian, this experience is out of many visitor’s price range. Disney’s value resorts are a much more accessible option, and still offer the benefits of staying on Disney property. Disney’s Pop Century Resort falls squarely in the value category. While the rooms are small and simple, the resort has a lot to offer for guests looking for a cheap stay and a great Disney experience. Here are 7 awesome things about Disney’s Pop Century Resort. What do you love about Pop Century? Let us know in the comments!

7. Theming

Pop Century is a visual treat. Everywhere you look, there is a surprise! Larger than life sculptures decorate the property and bring the pop culture of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s to life. They make for great photo ops and bring back great memories for the adults in the group. Kids might not recognize the cultural significance, but they love the look.

6. It feels like a trendy museum.

But way more fun! Quick facts on posters throughout the resort give information about the popular culture in each of the decades. You can dedicate a morning to touring the whole property, or just check them out as you walk to the pool, lobby, etc.

5. The Hippy Dippy Pool

Themed to represent the ‘60s, the Hippy Dippy Pool is constantly hopping with fun for all ages. Resort staff facilitate pool parties, dance contests and trivia, and there’s even a great wading pool for the really little ones. Adults can enjoy frozen beverages at the “groovy” pool bar, Petals. On some nights, you can even catch classic Disney movies on the big screen at the pool.

4. The Food

Disney’s value resorts are not generally known for their food, since it is limited to quick service restaurants. The food at Pop Century’s food court is surprisingly good though! With seven stations to choose from, including a grab-and-go, there is something for everyone. There are many good values to be found, like the Vegetable Medley sandwich that comes hot off the grill and is big enough to share. I highly recommend starting the day with the cinnamon rolls. Our favorite desserts here would have to be the Tie-Dye Cheesecake and the recently added Dole Whip! Both are wonderful unique and delicious!

3. Two resorts in one!

With the Art of Animation just across the lake from Pop Century, it’s almost like you have two resorts in one. You get a great view of Art of Animation (another visually stunning resort!) and can easily stroll across the bridge to visit. In addition to providing additional visual appeal, this doubles your dining options. You can also access Art of Animation’s bike and surrey rentals!

2. New Balance Running Trail

This trail takes you around the lake with beautiful views of both Pop Century and Art of Animation. Whether you are a walker or a runner, this is a great way to keep up with your fitness routine and work off the delicious cinnamon bun you had for breakfast!

1. Convenience

When comparing Pop Century to the other value and moderate resorts, it is one of the most convenient. It is located between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and not too far from Magic Kingdom, so the bus ride times are reasonable. It also only has one bus stop and doesn’t share its busses with another resort, meaning less time wasted picking and dropping off other guests. The Classic Hall, with the lobby and food court, is centrally located and an easy walk from any of the rooms. Adding to the convenience is that all but one of the housing sections have a pool right there!

About Katie D

I grew up in New Jersey in a family where the word “vacation” was synonymous with “Disney World.” After a few years of visiting regularly, my family became Disney Vacation Club members which meant we visited even more! Going to Disney always felt kind of like going home, and some of my best childhood and teenage memories occurred there. Now that I live in Jacksonville, FL I am excited to be a short drive from this magical place and look forward to making new memories for years to come.
