Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is an amazing holiday event at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  This event requires a special event ticket purchase that is different than usual park admission.  It is so much fun and there are so many things to love and enjoy about it.  Here are the top 5 reasons why we absolutely recommend this event:

5. You get to enjoy unlimited cookies, cocoa and other treats

Included with admission to the party is the benefit of unlimited cookies, hot cocoa and other treats like juice and fruit.  There are multiple stations set up around the park in the different lands.  The treats that are offered are themed for each of the lands.  Some of the locations even offer egg nog, cider and other beverages.  The types of cookies for each location vary so that they are themed for each land, too.  The offerings by land are:

  • Adventureland (Tortuga Tavern): Hot chocolate and snickerdoodle cookie
  • Liberty Square (Heritage House): Eggnog and gingersnap molasses cookie
  • Fantasyland (Friar’s Nook): Snow cone and snowman sugar cookie
  • Fantasyland (Pete’s Silly Sideshow): Apple cider and snowman sugar cookie
  • Tomorrowland (The Lunching Pad): Hot chocolate and peppermint bark cookie

All of the options make for an amazing event, with gluten-free and allergy-friendly options available at locations as well.

4. There is exclusive merchandise for party guests.

Every year at the event, there is a series of new merchandise that is only sold during the event.  You will find things like special Magic Bands, pins, t-shirts, Christmas ornaments, etc.  This merchandise is a great way to commemorate your experience and add to your collection.  The Magic Bands typically take special action like a special Christmas sound or saying when you scan your band at the park entry or FastPass+ locations.  These bands are able to be used when you visit again and not just at the party.  For you shoppers out there, you are definitely going to want to check out the merchandise and get it while you are there since you won’t have the chance later.

3. A special Christmas parade and fireworks show is performed.

You won’t want to miss the amazing parade and fireworks show at the party.  The parade is typically performed twice so that you will have an extra opportunity to see it.  The second parade is usually less crowded than the first, too.  The parade is full of Christmas floats and characters in their holiday costumes.  It also “snowing” on Main Street, USA, so you get to see this snow fall on the floats creating the perfect holiday memories.  It is one of the only times that you get to see something resembling snow in Florida.  Then you have the fireworks show where fireworks go over Cinderella Castle to favorite Christmas songs in an amazing medley.  They are both amazing experiences that are only for party guests (until closer to Christmas).

2. Ride many of your favorite rides with much smaller wait times.

Guests at the party get unlimited access to many of their favorite attractions.  There is only a limited number of tickets sold to the event, so there aren’t as many guests to compete with for ride time. The lines are typically far less than they are during a normal day at the park.  For many attractions, you can get right on the ride with minimal or no wait time.  Since it is dark out, it isn’t hot and the sun isn’t beating down on you so you can go, go, go the entire evening and fit in a ton of rides and great fun with the family.

1. There are exclusive character meet and greets around the park.

It isn’t a trip to the Magic Kingdom without getting to meet and greet with all of the favorite Disney characters.  Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party definitely doesn’t disappoint when it comes to characters.  There are dance parties with favorite characters, character meet and greets with rare characters and characters in their holiday outfits, special stage shows and so much more.  These make for amazing photo opportunities and a great way to collect autographs from your favorite characters with shorter lines than you would have during normal park hours.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
